The WAIF staff provides excellent care for the companion animals in our care under difficult conditions. Our desire to help as many as possible sometimes results in temporary overcrowding.
This situation is unacceptable. It is unhealthful and stressful for the animals and difficult for the caretakers.

15 years ago WAIF built interior kennels. At that time, it was a commonly accepted shelter design to drain the dog kennels into a common trench. It is now known that this arrangement may allow spread of disease as well as creates an unpleasant hallway through the kennel area. Our staff and volunteers are too crowded and we have no place to expand our spaces for people and animals to interact, learn and bond.
WAIF believes that our volunteers, staff and adoptors deserve a place that will support their best work, best care and best experience. They are the keys to the success of our mission – to find a loving home for every pet.
It is obvious that the existing shelter impedes us and makes reaching our goals impossible.
The new WAIF shelter will solve these problems and open up many more possiblilities.
