Twenty years ago the people who began WAIF were ahead of their time. Their respect for animals and ideas of best animal welfare inspired them to set WAIF’s mission, vision – “a loving home for every pet” – and goals high, and work diligently to make them not dreams but reality.
WAIF is working to make a desperately needed new shelter not a dream but reality. A shelter that provides a caring, healthful and positive environment for Whidbey Island animals and people to interact, learn, and bond.
The new WAIF shelter will allow us to care for more companion animals seeking their forever homes and will provide the necessary space for caregivers, a spay/neuter clinic, animal social areas, and basic food preparation and supply storage areas. Most importantly it will provide an atmosphere conducive to faster adoptions. It will allow WAIF to expand its programs and services as well as open up lots of possibilities for greater community involvement, more training and education classes and WAIF events.
